Our client was looking to achieve a plan that would allow for a full strip out of an existing retail store to fully fit out the new sports retail multi fascia within a 21-week programme to meet their design specification for the 27793 ft² store. The multi fascia consisted of Sports Direct, USC & GAME.
As the principal contractor, MCUK conducted a thorough survey of all elements within the pre-determined scope of the works, which was to include a full strip out of an existing retail store to fit out the new multi fascia sports store.
MCUK had to face the obstacle of the project coming to a stop for 6 weeks during the middle of the programme due to the client changing the design.
MCUK advised all aspects from the program of works, structural elements, as well as co-ordinating with the other project managers, client, and sub-contractors on a regular basis throughout the project.
Once all approvals were in place and the client was confident to proceed, MCUK carried out scoping and pre-start meetings with our sub-contractors and client and collated all health & safety information. Programmes were drafted and reviewed, and orders placed accordingly. We held weekly site meetings with the client’s project manager and other relevant parties, keeping everyone updated and ensuring that the project was delivered as expected and on time.
From regular site visits early in the project, we were able to identify issues and resolve them swiftly. However, some issues were not in MCUK’s control, such as the 6 week break in the schedule. Therefore, MCUK needed to adjust schedules and specification to be in line with current designs.
The project was successfully completed on time, snag free and within budget. As a result, the client was able to open as scheduled with a store exceeding their expectations. After working previously with this client, the outcome of this project meant that the client wanted to work with MCUK again for similar large retail fit outs.
